Soap Dish: Legendary Soap Actor John Ingle Dies At Age 84

It is Soap Dish time again and this week I am dishing about a legendary actor who was died. General Hospital’s John Ingle passed away on Saturday at age 84, so sad.

John died at his home on Saturday according to a posting by his family on Facebook. The news was just shared with fans today and all I can say is what a great loss the daytime community has suffered today. As many of you know Ingle was best known for his portrayal of Edward Quartermaine on the ABC hit soap opera General Hospital. In fact viewers got a glimpse of Edward last week for the first time in months. It would be appear that those scenes would be the final scenes the actor had on the show.

As the news of his passing spread cast members, crew members and fans have taken to social media like Facebook and Twitter to sing the praises of a truly talented man. I for one remember him not only as Edward but as Days Of Our Lives Mickey Horton for a couple of years. I have admired him for oh so many years. The news of his passing although very sad does not come as a surprise you could tell the past few times he had been on the show that he was not feeling well.

Ingle is survived by his 5 daughters, 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His wife of 57 years Grace-Lynn died back in February. His family released what I think is the most amazing heartfelt message on Facebook, you can see it below.

“Father, Husband, Grandan, Great Grandan, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Teacher, Inspirer, Mentor: May You Soar with the Angels. You will forever hold a special place in the deepest corners of our hearts. You were joy, light and love. Goodness at its very best. For the rest of our days, we will all do our best to continue to make you proud. Rest in peace and continue to spread your generous spirit in the heavens above.”

There is no doubt that GH will do some awesome tribute to the man who was such an important part of the show. With that I say RIP John Ingle you will always be known for not only your amazing talent but for the amazing man that so many loved. I only wish I had been lucky enough o know you myself. If you have a favorite TV memory of Ingle please share it with me.
