MSBA to study emerging challenges to the the practice of law

The Minnesota State Bar Association wants your help identifying the challenges to your practice.

In December, the MSBA Assembly voted to for a task force tasked with studying how the MSBA can help members better respond to the new challenges and barriers in their practice. [A second task force will also study the challenges facing legal education.]

Among other issues, the task force will examine “technology, student debt loads, and activities that may represent the unauthorized practice of law.” Members are encouraged to contact the task force with suggestions regarding issues to be addressed and areas in which MSBA might have an impact.

The co-chairs of the task force are Susan Minsberg of St. Paul and Paul Floyd of Minneapolis. The MSBA staff liaison to the group is Judson Haverkamp, who can be reached at jhaverkamp@mnbar.org or by phone at (612) 278-6333.

The final report is expected by the end of this year.
