Alleged hacker's prosecutor defends case, stressing low sentence sought

Amid ongoing criticism in the wake of Internet activist Aaron Swartz's suicide, Boston U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz has released a formal statement expressing "heartfelt sympathy" to those close to Swartz but defending the hacking case brought against him and the deal offered to him. Meanwhile, a petition on the White House's website seeking her removal has passed the 25,000-signature mark.
