Kate Upton: V Magazine Cover, Photos, Interview…Sexy as Ever!

Kate Upton poses for several photos evoking 1950s screen sirens and speaks out on a range of topics, including how she feels about herself as a model and now actress and the Victoria’s Secret diss in a new interview for a ‘V’ magazine cover story.

The 21-year-old buxom blonde beauty rose to fame with her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover photo establishing herself as one to watch as she had already become who was frequently watched indeed, not least when her Dougie dance video on YouTube went viral.

She is now branching into acting and set to make her feature film debut in Nick Cassavetes’ romantic comedy ‘The Other Woman’ with costars Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann. And yes, she is the titular other woman in all of her full head-turning glory.

Although the movie is a few months away from release, as its star Kate Upton is seen in an innovative cover that V Magazine has come up with. In a black-and-white photo Kate Upton is seen wearing sexy figure-hugging denim jeans and denim bodysuit, with a full-color floral V overlay. When removed, off come the clothes and she’s stripped down to a sexy bikini. It’s all in keeping with the headline ‘Why Can’t Kate Upton Keep Her Clothes On?’

In the interview — for those who read it and don’t get completely lost in the photo spread — Kate Upton addresses a range of topics. For the first time she responds publicly to the infamous comments made about her by Sophia Neophitou, the casting director of Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She said of Kate Upton, in a New York Times article on her rise to fame via the Internet, “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.” Neophitou on to say that her look was “too obvious” and she would never walk the runway for Victoria’s Secret.

Upton said in response, now more than a year later, “I had just gotten my cover of Sports Illustrated that day. I wasn’t used to that kind of media swirl. I had never met her, so it really came out of nowhere.” She went on to call it her “introduction to being in the spotlight and having people you’ve never met have an opinion of you.”

Of her own modeling career, she told the magazine, “‘I don’t compare myself with other models. For me, modeling is really about competing with yourself, becoming the best you can be.”

She was also asked for her thoughts about icons, a fitting question given the black-and-white photo spread in which she was styled much like the pinup girls and screen sirens of the 1950s; much like Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot and others.

She said, “I think an icon is someone who is inspiring and positive, with a strong sense of who they are and what they stand for…My icons are Kathy Ireland and Cameron Diaz.” She said of Marilyn Monroe that she “was a beautiful and sexy woman who portrayed herself in an irresistible and charming way.” She added, “Who wouldn’t be honored to be compared to her?”
