Sometimes the more you know, the more you want to get the hell out of your house!
In St. Louis, Catrina McGhaw learned the hard way that the three most important parts of real estate are location, location, and was this home previously owned by a serial killer?!
Catrina had just signed the lease for a house when a family member made her watch a documentary about serial killer, Maury Travis, on the A&E Network, and guess what?
Her house was on the show! Wow, her house is totally famous!
Yeah, except it's famous for being the torture chamber of a serial killer. Her dining room table? Yeah, that's the same one from crime scene photos!
Apparently, the basement was ground zero for some terrible things. He tied his victims to a pole down there, and even recorded some of his atrocities.
Well, after that, Catrina did what any of us would do and contacted her landlord!
Except turns out her landlord is this serial killer's mom! Ah, nightmare status unlocked!
This landlord was dead set on making her stay, arguing that because she signed a lease she's stuck there.
Well, after having a chat with the St. Louis Housing Authority, Maury's mom agreed to let her go, and she's moving in July!
The weirdest part of all this? It's actually legal to withhold disclosing a home's violent past in Missouri!
As for Maury, he committed suicide in his jail cell in 2002.
