Liza Minnelli is headed to season two of Smash. That is right the Broadway legend is going to make an appearance on the show about what goes on behind the scenes of a Broadway musical.
NBC has announced that the killer guest stars for Smash’s upcoming season just got a whole lot hotter with the news that the one and only Liza Minnelli will play herself on the show. I have to say it is a perfect fit for the talented actress and singer who is a Oscar, Golden Globes, Grammy, Emmy and Tony Awards winner. Wowza I didn’t realize until she has one all the prestigious entertainment awards.
The below statement was released by NBC on this super hot news.
“Liza Minnelli is the essence of a multi-talented, singular show business sensation, particularly for her extraordinary contributions to Broadway. So what could be more fitting than to have her legendary talent on a show that celebrates a world Liza has dazzled for decades? I had the pleasure of working with Liza when we restored her landmark television special ‘Liza With a Z’ at Showtime, and to see her artistry up close and personal is a thing to behold.”
So what can fans of the show expect fro Ms. Liza as she play herself on the hit show? Well of course she will sing, Liza will sing an original song from the show. It will be a duet with the super talented Christian Borle, who I am sure you all know plays the Broadway obsessed Tom Levitt on the show. I personally can’t wait to hear that tune. I bet those two will sound fantastic together. Other that that she is going to sing the details of her episode, which is titled “The Surprise Party” and will air later in Spring 2013, are being kept under wraps. I am sure the episode hasn’t even been taped yet so once that happens I bet there will be info on just how exactly Minnelli will fit into the show.
From the beginning of the show NBC has managed to land some amazing guest stars for Smash, I am sure it doesn’t hurt that Steven Spielberg is an executive producer of the show doesn’t hurt. In season two along with Liza Minnelli viewers will get to see Jennifer Hudson, Jesse L. Martin and Sean Hayes just to name a few.
I am big fan of Smash and I can’t wait for the new season, as well as to see just what Minnelli has up her sleeve for the guest starring episode. In order to get yourself ready for a little Liza singing action that will happen next spring on the NBC show check out the video of her doing her thing. After that be sure to let me what you think about this fantastic news.
