Heidi Klum on Plastic Surgery, Botox, Retiring from the Lingerie Runway at 40 (Video)

Heidi Klum tackled the big subjects in a recent interview. She shared her thoughts about aging, plastic surgery and Botox and whether or not she plans to walk the catwalk in Victoria’s Secret lingerie at age 40.

The 39-year-old supermodel and entrepreneur is also a judge on ‘America’s Got Talent,’ host of ‘Top Model’ and ‘Project Runway’ in Germany as well as the mother of four children. She spoke with Billy Bush and Kit Hoover of’Access Hollywood.’ After acknowledging her busy life — “I love what I do; I love being creative” — she weighed in on the hot button issues that some in her profession are reluctant to address.

Asked about plastic surgery and Botox, she said, “I’ve never done anything. I’ve been too scared, to be honest with you. I’m scared that all of a sudden you’re changing too much, your face starts changing, I don’t know. I would have a hard time looking in the mirror and seeing something I’m not used to seeing. I’d be afraid.”

She also spoke about her Halloween costume and makeup. She famously donned special-effects makeup — which she said took several hours to apply — to appear quite convincingly as a very old woman; age 95, she estimated. She said the impetus for the costume and the elaborate make up was as a response to the flurry of comments and questions she had been getting about turning 40 and how she felt about it. Heidi Klum said, “I’m going to show you old. I’m going to show you really old.”

When Kit Hoover remarked about her bangs, she said, “Botox or bangs. I go for bangs.” Billy Bush asked her about crow’s feet. She said, “I wouldn’t say that I love them, but it’s just the way it happens. you get them from smiling.

She was also asked about the future of her modeling career. She said, “I wouldn’t model with my underwear down the runway anymore. I think I would find it a little uncomfortable, maybe.” She added, “I still do photo shoots for covers and different things or advertising stuff.”

The supermodel turned entrepreneur has for years set an outstanding example of how to transition, even as society pays far too much attention to such “milestone” birthdays as 40. See the candid conversation below as Heidi Klum more than fends for herself against a barrage of questions about her age.
