Taylor Swift talks about her much publicized love life, speculates about dating celebrities in the future, and what it’s like to make mistakes that are so widely scrutinized and more in Glamour UK’s November cover story. Oh, yes, she also offers the obligatory opinion of Miley Cyrus!
In advance of the European leg of her Red Tour, which will kick off in London early next year, the country-pop superstar whose love life, and string of ex-boyfriends who live on as songwriting fodder, gives us her take on what she calls the “chaos” that “breaks loose” whenever she dates someone, the “fabrication and frantic obsession and who likes who more and how it ended.”
While probing questions about a performing artist’s love life might be the stuff of tabloids, celebrity mags, and social media chatter, what happens when that same performer tells that unnamed somebody “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and lets the rest of the world overhear?
Perhaps addressing our latent cynicism over her dating cycles, Taylor Swif tells Glamour UK she “never had a perfect fit with someone” even as she envisions what it might be, adding, “Here’s what I’ve learned about deal-breakers. If you have enough natural chemistry with someone, you overlook every single thing that you said would break the deal.”
But the opinions of others? She, wisely, steers away. She says, “Vanity can apply to both insecurity and egotism. So I distance myself, because I feel everything. The little I am exposed to hurts my feelings. The only things I can really control are my songs and my behavior If I focused on it, that would lead to insanity.”
As for the behavior of that other pop star, Miley Cyrus, she said, “There’s room for role models who make mistakes. There’s clearly room for role models who are made fun of at award shows, not that I necessarily enjoy being poked fun at!”
From her comparatively quiet realm, Taylor Swift also recently announced the concert dates in the UK. She will perform at O2 Arena in 2014 on February 1, 2 and 4.
