Former tax court judge Sheryl Ramstad joins Krieg DeVault

Former Minnesota Tax Court Judge Sheryl A. Ramstad recently joined the Twin Cities office of Krieg DeVault. The hire was announced today.

She will work in the firm’s governmental affairs, business and health care practice groups.

Ramstad served on the tax court for 11 years before resigning in September of last year. From 1996 to 2001 she served as Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Corrections under Gov. Jesse Ventura. She also spent 14 years as a partner with the former Minnesota law firm, Rider Bennett, and prior to that was an Assistant United States Attorney.

She also is a past president of Minnesota Women Lawyers, the Hennepin County Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association.

“Krieg DeVault is a wonderful fit for me,” Ramstad said in a statement announcing her hire. “The firm has a long-standing reputation for outstanding client service, and I look forward to being part of the established team of professionals who work in the Twin Cities Office, as well as assisting them in the growth of the firm’s clients and business partners.”

Ramstad is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. She graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law (with honors) and was a member of the Order of the Coif, as well as an Editor of the Law Review. In December, Ms. Ramstad will graduate from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing where she is currently completing her Masters of Nursing degree.

Krieg DeVault has five attorneys in its Minneapolis office located in the RBC Plaza in downtown Minneapolis.
