Virginia Lawyers Weekly won seven awards in the 2013 Virginia Press Women Communications Contest, five of which were for first place.
The awards were presented at the VPW Spring Conference in Lexington April 13.
Deborah Elkins won two first-place awards, one in the news story, print-based newspaper category and the second in the blogs, corporate or for-profit, category.
Sarah Rodriguez placed first for specialty articles, science or technology category.
Christine Watson won two first-place awards, one in the page design, newspaper category, and the second in graphics.
Watson also brought home two second-place awards, one for page design, magazine, newsletter, or other non-newspaper publication category, and the other for single advertisements for print or electronic publication.
The first-place winners will advance to compete at the National Federation of Press Women Communications Contest in late August.
