Nicki Minaj premiered ‘Anaconda’ her much anticipated music video. With twerking, lap dancing and much, much more rapper puts her famous physical attributes to full display and gets up close and ultra personal with her costar and fellow rapper Drake. To say she has put the entire Internet in an unshakeable frenzy is an understatement.
Yes, “frenzy” doesn’t quite do the ‘Anaconda’ video justice. Even in this day and age of daring, edgy, spicy, suggestive and otherwise probably NSFW music videos, Nicki Minaj may have set the bar even higher. Yes, we have had Miley Cyrus riding a wrecking ball and we have even seen Beyonce getting into the envelop-pushing game with some of her videos, notably ‘Partition.’
So it’s no surprise that Nicki Minaj returns as a solo artist — after a long stint as a frequent guest artist — and does so in a major way. With her new album ‘The Pink Print’ due out soon, this is the latest single and with it, quite a visual. Directed by famed director Colin Tilly, and with fellow rapper Drake in the picture and in some very suggestive scenes, we have the making of an intensely sexy video. Yes, there are bananas involved along with the aforementioned lap dancing and twerking.
So the Internet is in a frenzy. The gifs and the memes are flooding social media. There are indelible images in the video that, as the expression goes, we can’t unsee.
We should not be surprised. Already there were hints with the cover art for ‘Anaconda’ as the rapper gave us a splashy view of her derriere. Another big hint was the sampling of the iconic 1990s Sir Mix-A-Lot smash hit “Baby Got Back.” In fact, as Billboard notes, the legendary rapper himself weighed in on Twitter with approval, “Ok after watching @NICKIMINAJ Anaconda 37times I only have one word to sum up my feelings. DAMNNNNN!!!!!!”
Well, we could go on and one, but really what’s the point? The only way to experience ‘Anaconda’ is to watch it, not read about it. And you can do so below!
