The Last Traffic Court Still Has Some Left in the Tank

Before there were drug courts, domestic-violence courts or pet courts, there were traffic courts, rising up in big cities starting in the 1940s. But after a 70-year run, they are on the brink of extinction. Until a few days ago, it looked all but certain that the Louisiana legislature would vote to merge the last traffic court in the nation, in New Orleans, into the city's Municipal Court.
