Robin Thicke Names His New Album ‘Paula’ after Estranged Wife Paula Patton

Robin Thicke is naming his new album ‘Paula’ after his estranged wife, Paula Patton. His new song, ‘Get Her Back,’ serves as the album’s lead single. With it, the R&B music superstar continues his very public campaign to reconcile with his actress wife.

It was just a year ago that ‘Blurred Lines’ was ruling at the top of the charts all over the world, as the song of the summer. With racy lyrics and an even more racy music video, the smash hit stands in stark contrast to his newest release which is painfully autobiographical, as 36-year-old Robin Thicke attempts to reconcile with his 38-year-old wife Paula Patton. The couple had been married since 2005 and had dated since their mid-teens. They have a four-year-old son named Julian Fuego.

But this has not been a typical celebrity split, as Thicke has made appeals on stage in concert numerous times to win back is wife. And now, an album.

First reported by Rap-Up.com exclusively and later confirmed by US Weekly, the new album, ‘Paula,’ is due out on July 1st, after the debut of the aforementioned lead single, ‘Get Her Back.’

The couple announced their split earlier this year, and within days, Robin Thicke had begun to dedicate song performances to his estranged wife, telling an audience in Fairfax, Virginia, “For y’all that don’t know, me and my wife separated but I’m trying to get my girl back.”

For her part, Paula Patton has broken her silence but once in a Vanity Fair interview, “We’ve known each other since we were teenagers. All I can tell you is there’s a deep love there — always was, and always will be.”

However, neither has opened up as to the reason for the split, and we know what happens in the absence of an official explanation. Such has been the case here. It was widely rumored that Robin Thicke had been having inappropriate contact with other women and there was also speculation that his performance with the infamously twerking Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMAs had something to do with it. While Miley Cyrus’ sexually charged stage antics dominated headlines for weeks, the fact remained that he too was performing on stage with her. A fact which some speculated did not go unnoticed by his spouse.

If ‘Get Her Back’ and its transparent lyrics are any indication — “I should’ve kissed you longer / I should’ve held you stronger / And I’ll wait for forever for you” — ‘Paula’ should make for a poignant album, all the more so as it is a real-life drama unfolding in public.
