Lindsay Lohan talked about rehab, her relationship with Oprah Winfrey, producer of the reality TV series documenting her recovery and she joked about the infamous sex list, allegedly of men she has slept with and her dating life now and more on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The 27-year-old Lindsay Lohan spoke on a range of topics, but foremost, the reality TV docu-series ‘Lindsay’ on OWN and its subject matter, namely, her recovery in the aftermath of her most recent stint in rehab.
She said the docu-series that it was “very raw and honest.” She also reflected upon what the filming was like, saying, “It was really scary at first.” She went on to say “I wanted to get back into anything that felt like a work mode, a routine.” She went on to say that with cameras presence it felt overwhelming. She also reflected on the travails of moving back to New York, of getting an apartment and said she was fine with people saying this. She said, “I wanted it to be something people could relate to.”
She also spoke about Oprah Winfrey, saying, “She’s just been a really strong guiding light and force to me as a friend and someone that I admire,”
Ellen DeGeneres asked her if cameras following gave her pressure to be healthier this time around, and Lindsay Lohan said that with this last stint in rehab it was the first time she was ready, and noted that in the past she had gone to rehab to avoid jail and as such she was “just going through the motions.” She said, “I think that this was the first time that I was able to, you know, when I went to treatment this time, when I went to Cliffside, I really wanted a moment for myself and I learned a lot of different tools and things that I didn’t in the past.”
She also went on to say that work is what makes her happy and she wants to do what she can to get back to that. To that, Ellen DeGeneres pointed out the early fame and attention since childhood and the impact upon her. Lindsy Lohan said she should have listened to her mother, Dina Lohan, who wanted her to return to New York.
She noted that she was now happier back in New York, noting that it’s where her family and friends are. She added, “I can walk on the streets and be normal.” She said that the paparazzi didn’t bother in New York City to the extent that they did in L.A. She also mentioned that she and her brother, Michael Lohan, Jr. are working on an app which she called “the Shazam for clothing.”
She also joked about the now infamous sex list which surfaced as part of a tabloid report. Subsequently various media outlets have debunked the list, but nonetheless much like an Internet meme it persists regardless of any truth to it or not.
She was not asked about it directly, but she made an oblique and joking reference to it within the context of reminiscing about some of her previous appearances on the show — seven such appearances in total. Ellen DeGeneres showed a video clip of her singing a song which she first appeared to not recall.
She joked, saying, “That’s probably why I’m not singing right now.” And striking a more serious tone, she reflected, saying, “That was a really emotional song. It was like about my dad [Michael Lohan]…No, I’d just broken up with someone.”
Asked her if she remembers who it was, Lindsay Lohan said, “Apparently there’s a list of many guys.” And, after a beat, “It was Wilmer actually. It was Wilmer Valderrama.” She dated the actor some years ago.
The ‘Mean Girls’ star, who grew up in front of cameras now faces the challenge of recovering in front of cameras, even as the docu-series has concluded. With her appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, a variety of news outlets, including the New York Daily News, report having spotted her out late partying in New York City although no reports of her drinking. As such, the saga goes on as media will make a story regardless. With the memory of the brilliant young actress she was — and, in her words is struggling to become again — the story continues to unfold in public.
