Why We're Obsessed with 'Game of Thrones'

Nationwide, a legion of fans of HBO's Game of Thrones are clearing their schedules for this Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, when the epic tale launches into Season 3. Customer service speaks loudly

Customer service is appreciated whenever it occurs. My wife and I (and I dare not forget Bandit) are spending a few days in Tucson, AZ at the Lazydays RV Park. Gathered with us are close to 100 other Airstream rigs, from trailers, to motorhomes ... from new to vintage as is ours. The amenities are outstanding and, as usual, it is the people that make an experience memorable. They go out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. Their brochure says that all their employees take weekly service instruction. Can you identify a law firm that has done that?

Not The Beanie Babies! Take Anything You Want, But Not The Beanie Babies!

beanie%20babies.jpg

What kind of person would steal a little girl's Beanie Babies? And use a knife during the heist? Perhaps the kind of 18-year-old who would want 6 Beanie Babies... As reported by The Orlando Sentinel:

Two St. Cloud men accused of taking a little girl's Beanie Babies and other items during a home invasion are being held without bail today at the Osceola County Jail.
Scott Napolillo and Sean Knapp, both 18, face charges of home-invasion robbery, aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
Napolillo is accused of pulling a knife from his waistband and forcing his way into a St. Cloud house to collect on a debt as Knapp waited outside with a souvenir baseball bat.
Must have been a large debt for all that.
The men rode their bicycles to the house.
Okay, maybe a medium-size debt?
The victim, who was not identified, told police Napolillo threatened to stab him if he didn't have $130 to pay off his debt, the report stated.
Told there was no money, Napolillo ransacked the home and told the victim if he tried to run a friend known as the "Marlboro Man" was waiting outside.
After packing the robbed items in a black bag, Napolillo left after saying he would come back and kill the victim if police were called, the report stated.
After the men left, a police officer on patrol in the area recognized Napolillo as a suspect in several burglaries and followed the men as they rode their bikes across St. Cloud, an arrest report stated.
The officer stopped them for riding against traffic after they cut off a car on 17th Street.
Napolillo had a dagger stuffed inside his waistband and he showed the officer that the black bag contained nine Nintendo video games, six Beanie Babies, the souvenir baseball bat, a cell phone and 13 AA batteries, the report stated.
$130! STFU! NFW did you do all that for $130. Here's the source.

Grieving family members sue over handling of bodies

Two Virginia widows are suing for the way businesses have handled remains of their husbands.

A Chesapeake woman claims she experienced nightmares and panic attacks after finding another decedent in her husband’s casket when she arrived for a viewing last April. Candace Wagner said the viewing for the late James “Jim” Wagner was delayed for two hours while a funeral home straightened out the mix-up, according her lawsuit.

The funeral home was hit with two lawsuits over the incident, from both Candace and son Nathan Wagner, according to The Virginian-Pilot. Each suit seeks $850,000.

A Culpeper widow claims her deceased husband has been kept from his final resting place for eight years by a cemetery’s failure to prepare a proper mausoleum.

The remains of noted Culpeper surgeon Grahame Henson have been “warehoused in a temporary unsealed, unmarked crypt,” according to his widow, June.

June Henson claims in her suit that the mausoleum she has been paying for has a flawed foundation. She says repairs have been inadequate, and – accordingly – she stopped making payments.

The cemetery has filed a counterclaim, reports The Free Lance-Star.

Are they or aren't they?

Some still can't seem to figure out if Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have officially taken the martial plunge, but we've still got our fingers crossed for a Spring wedding!

Either way, it looks like these two have been keeping busy with another day of furniture shopping in West Hollywood. As their home in Bel-Air is currently being renovated, it seems the pair are looking to spruce things up with new decor. Hence yesterday's browse.

This isn't the first time the lovebirds have been caught browsing for furnishings, but we absolutely looovvvee that they're doing this together.

Snooki Gives Delivery Glamor Advice to Kim Kardashian

From one reality star to another, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi offered some friendly advice to mommy-to-be Kim Kardashian.

In an interview with MTV, the "Jersey Shore" star tells the E! network mainstay, "Kim, first impressions are everything, so when you meet your baby for the first time, you have to look flawless. "If your face isn't already made up when your water breaks, you have plenty of time to do it in the hospital when you're waiting to dilate. I waited 27 hours and the whole time I was just putting on makeup and watched cartoons."

Stressing the importance of glamor, even while giving birth, she suggests, "Keep an extra pair of eyelashes in your purse just in case your water breaks when you're not at home. Or just do what I did and bring a whole box."

Obviously suggesting that she bring her own wardrobe, the pint-sized celeb advises, "Bring your own hospital gown because hospital gowns at the hospital are ugly. For me, I brought my own leopard print satin and it just made me feel beautiful while I was in labor. So Kim I feel you would be more in a couture designer like a Dolce & Gabbana gown." After, the helpful Ms. Polizzi advised a scarf because of the inevitable bloating and resulting double chins.

Ending on a practical note, Snooks concluded, "Make sure your mascara is water proof because you're going to cry from the pain of a baby coming through your vagina, and also when you meet your baby for the first time. Tell Kanye I said hi. Love you."

Which Actress Said Kissing Brad Pitt Was "Disgusting"?

Who wouldn't want to kiss Brad Pitt? Answer: Kirsten Dunst -- at least, when she was 11 years old. The actress, now 30, shared her first-ever kiss with Pitt in the 1994 film Interview with the Vampire. It was "just a peck," she now recalls, but she didn't exactly enjoy it.

Kordell Stewart, Porsha Williams Divorce Announced

Wow. The new star of the Real Housewives of Atlanta might be single and ready to mingle after this one! According to multiple outlets, NFL star Kordell Stewart and wifey Porsha Williams are no longer an item.

Divorce docs were reportedly filed to end the marriage, which was seen in episodes of this season the reality show. The couple were newcomers on a show that featured the wild antics of NeNe Leakes.

According to Stewart, their relationship was “irretrievably broken” and that they were already living separately. Obviously this has happened while they were in the middle of this season of the show, and it’s hard to tell whether or not any of that drama will be part of the upcoming season. Not to sound cold, but we hope it is!

Anyway, as for the money issue, we’re learning that they may have signed a prenup, because according to Kordell there are no assets to divide. He added:

“[She's] an able-bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself.”

I’m not really that shocked. It seemed like they were getting a little fame hungry. Sure, he is a pro football player, and I guess she is some kind of descendent of civil rights royalty, but let’s be real, they aren’t exactly big celebs.

Outside of Atlanta I’m not sure anyone would bump them ahead for a table at a restaurant.

But when you watched them on the show, things seemed a little strange. It was almost as if they are too aware of the cameras, which changed the things they said and did.

So far there is no clear reason for the split, other than the legal-sounding nonsense that Stewart has given the press.

Now wouldn’t it be juicy if there was another, not so wholesome reason? We’ll have to wait and see.

Stay tuned…

Affirmative action ban in state constitution violates US constitution (8-7)

Michigan voters adopted a state constitutional amendment that prohibits "all sex- and race-based preferences in public education, public employment, and public contracting."

The 6th Circuit (8-7) held this provision - as it relates to education - violates the 14th amendment's equal protection clause.

Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action v. Univ of Michigan (6th Cir 11/15/2012)

(Plaintiffs limited their challenge to racial discrimination in public education.)

The court said that a black applicant could seek adoption of a constitutionally permissible race-conscious admissions policy only through the "lengthy, expensive, and arduous process" of amending the state constitution. On the other hand, someone wishing to change any other aspect of a university's admissions policy has four options - lobby the admissions committee, petition the leadership of the university, seek to influence the school's governing board, or initiate a statewide campaign to alter the state's constitution.

"The existence of such a comparative structural burden undermines the Equal Protection Clause's guarantee that all citizens ought to have equal access to the tools of political change."

Seven judges wrote five DISSENTING opinions. Six said that the majority relied on two US Supreme Court cases that "have no application here," and one said that the majority relied on "an extreme extension" of those cases. The cases are Hunter v. Erickson, 393 US 385 (1969), and Washington v. Seattle Sch Dist, 458 US 457 (1982).

Chris Brown Shows Remorse?

Usually we don’t associate any kind of self reflection with the man known as Chris Brown, but it seems we may have a least one decent bone in his body. Okay, maybe just part of that bone. In a recent interview he hinted that he was actually sorry for what he did to Rihanna about four years ago.

That’s right, the man who has come off as arrogant and unapologetic for turning Rihanna’s face into a speed bag is now saying he regrets it…or something like that.

In a Ryan Seacrest interview this week, the singer/dancer/bar brawler said that he:

“just tried my best to be the best man I could be over the years and just show her how remorseful and sorry I was for the incident and that time was probably the worst part of my life… I’m eternally grateful and thankful.”

Wow. Those words sound a lot different than the parking attendant cursing, bottle chucking celebrity that we have all come to know and loathe.

Wait, They Have Surveillance Cameras Watching Us Cashiers? Don't They Trust Us?

surveillance%20camera.jpg

Most folks know there are cameras EVERYWHERE. The US is becoming more like the UK this way with each passing day. Apparently this Florida woman is not aware of the phenomenon. Per the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office:

A Charlotte County Sheriff's deputy arrested a Port Charlotte Target employee Tuesday after security went back through surveillance video that showed her steal cash from her register 14 times totaling $2,300. Arrested for Grand Theft was Melissa A. Sayre, 29, 11798 Van Loon Avenue, Englewood East.
14 times!
Target security began checking archived surveillance video after Sayre’s cash register came up short starting Feb. 7 and continuing until Mar. 15. Sayre was called to the Target Offices to discuss the shortages; she admitted that she stole the money and was immediately terminated. The deputy arrived and arrested Sayer who said she took the money out of need to pay her rent and fix her car.
Here's a link to the story, which includes a mug shot.

Miley Cyrus Twerking Video

Miley Cyrus had people going the other day when she posted this video of her Twerking….In a unicorn costume. I thought it was fun, cute, and gurl….Gurl has booty moves!!! Great way to get people to move on from the fact that she and Liam are a-ok, and still engaged.

Seriously, Miley can shake her booty, who knew she had moves like that???!! Love this girl even more.

Miley has been in the news non-stop these past few weeks with speculation that she and fiance Liam Hemsworth called off their engagement. He was out of the country and her engagement ring was off. There were rumors he cheated with maneater, January Jones, and people were literally going bananas over this. Miley denied, denied, denied the rumors, even saying that her ring was getting repaired. But they just didn’t die down.

Finally she stopped denying and just moved on. She posted this video, Liam came home, and she is once again rocking out her ring. Haters gonna hate.

In other Miley news, the former Disney starlet talked about the first single on her upcoming album, which she promises will be great. And you may be shocked to find out she collabed with Snoop!!!

“I want this record to be just something that’s different and a bunch of like passion projects,” Miley explained. “I wouldn’t have calculated — ‘Oh the first song I want to come out is gonna be me and Snoop Dogg’ — that’s never what I thought it was gonna be. I thought it would be my single kind of first. But I’ve just been able to do these things where I’ve just been in the studio at the right time and these projects have magically just happened. It just happened. Which was amazing and now it’s gonna be the first thing people hear from me so I’m excited.”

The Legal Limits of Sports Violence

The infamous elbow jab of Metta World Peace, NFL "Bounty Hunters," soccer riots, high school hockey brawls ...where is the legal line drawn when it comes to violence in sports? Or is it just the nature of the game? Lawyer2Lawyer co-hosts and attorneys, Bob Ambrogi and Craig Williams turn to Attorney Eldon L. Ham, an adjunct professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law and Professor Matthew Mitten, Director of the National Sports Law Institute at Marquette University Law School, for their take on whether there should be legal implications when an athlete goes too far.
