A Challenge to a Unique Judicial-Election Process

When people criticize judicial elections, typically they're attacking the very notion of electing judges at all. Judges, the thinking goes, should call balls and strikes (to paraphrase Chief Justice John Roberts), not give stump speeches offering promises and platitudes.
