Town Owes $10M To Pupil Paralyzed In School Beating

A New Jersey jury on Friday awarded $16.3 million to an Irvington High School student who was left paralyzed from a beating in a school bathroom. Jurors assigned 80 percent liability to the school and 20 percent to Anwar Patterson's assailant. Due to a high-low agreement, Patterson's recovery will be capped at $10 million.
